TUMMY TIME

You’ve heard it from everyone. Tummy time is SO IMPORTANT. So, let’s talk about it.

Not only is tummy time imperative to gaining strength it’s also a great way to incorporate sensory time. I’ll touch on this a little later when we make tummy time nature-based.

So, what is tummy time? Any time your baby spends on their stomach. It can be flat on the ground, on a wedge, at an angle, with a boppy or pillow under them or even lying on your chest (face to face).

Tummy time is important to gain neck and back strength for sitting, standing, rolling over etc. It also helps to prevent a flat head from forming. I’m personally not a fan of giving a specific amount of time per day to hit for tummy time because as a parent I know how daunting and impossible that seems some days. With that said though, you want to have your baby on their tummy as MUCH as possible throughout the day and I will give you some specific examples on how to do this in this guide.

Now, let’s get into some research and more information on tummy time and its role in gaining strength and preventing a flat head.
